[Music Monday] Right Again by Yuna

So...Yuna's latest album has hit the market. By album, I mean an EP. Specifically, the Sixth Street EP.

As usual, the song that I found myself listening to the most out of the 5-tracks EP is not the first single (which is I Wanna Go, produced by Mike Einziger of Incubus tu). Instead, it is the second track that is called Right Again.

Right Again by Yuna on Deezer

Right Again by Yuna on Spotify

This time around, I can’t really explain the reason why I kept on looping the song for the past few days. Maybe because of the lyrics in the song. Maybe because of the song’s laid-back melody accompanied by Yuna’s sort-of-spacey vocal. Maybe it is the mood in the air.

Well, I guess there are times when you really like something without any reason. You just...like it.

[(The Fashionably Late) Music Monday] Politik by Coldplay

Coldplay Live in Abu Dhabi 2012 New Year's Eve

Frankly speaking, I hate politics. A necessary evil, they said but from my observations...what politics do most of the time is breaking up harmony and destroying friendship regardless of the scale.

This classic track from Coldplay echoed loudly in my mind throughout the recent election season. Especially this particular part of the song:

"In confusion, confidence
Give me peace of mind and trust
Don't forget the rest of us
Give me strength; reserve control
Give me heart and give me soul
Wounds that heal and cracks that fix."

Regardless of what happened or which side your supported during the recent election (one of the most hotly contested, if not the hottest), open up your eyes. There are a lot of lessons need to be learned (and relearned) from it, for the betterment of our beloved Malaysia.

[Music Monday] Ain't It Fun By Paramore

PARAMORE @ THE GARAGE

So, Paramore released their fourth album (a self-titled one as well) earlier this month. While the band chose to put out Now and Still Into You as the main singles from their new album, I personally feels that there are stronger songs in the album such this particular track: Ain't It Fun.

Got to say that the reason why I'm so fond of this song is its groovy melody and the feel good-like vibe. That being said, the lyrics are rather typical of Paramore though.

"So what are you gonna do when the world don’t orbit around you?". Hmmm.

[Music Monday] Get Lucky by Daft Punk Featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers

Daft Punk haven’t come out with a studio album for quite some time, so it is obvious that Get Lucky – the first single from their upcoming new album, Random Access Memories - has generated a lot of buzz. IMHO, the French electronic duo worked their magic very well once again as this track certainly didn't disappoint me.

Working together with two other legends in their own right - Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes/N.E.R.D and Nile Rodgers of Chic – Get Lucky to me is unlike any previous releases by the duo as it has more R&B and funk feel rather than electronic music. Meanwhile, I’m very curious about the music video for this song since the little teaser that they showed prior to the single’s release looks just as funky as the song that it represents.

By the way, do you know that the video above is actually animated despite giving the impression that it is just an audio-only video? Just wait for it and you might be surprised....

[Running] Boston Marathon

Whether you are a veteran or a beginner, it is not hard to miss the tales of Boston Marathon - the oldest annual marathon in the world. Especially the part where you first need to set a good finish time in other certified marathons that is within Boston Marathon’s qualifying times before you can actually register for the event.

Because of that, many runners has made Boston Marathon as one of their life goals including yours truly. I might not even run beyond my usual 10K races and slacking in my training but Boston is definitely one of the great marathons that I aimed to run at some point of my life.

Truth to be told, the bomb attacks at the event few days ago left me rather speechless: why would someone attack a marathon? Runners are generally peaceful bunch of people who many are advocates of healthy lifestyle which in hand is among the last people on earth that you can associated with violence.

The incident also made me a little bit shaken since I then realized that such attack could happen at any given running event throughout the world, be it a small community event or a large scale national fest. Running events is supposed to be about achievement, triumph and happiness.

Not about sadness, confusion, fear and death. =/

[Music Monday] A View To A Kill by Duran Duran

I seriously have no idea why this song stuck on my mind for the past week or so. While this song being one of the most well-known Bond theme of all and I'm a huge fan of James Bond movies but I'm not a fan of this song as a Bond theme. I prefer the usual R&B or ballad-like theme rather than a pop song.

Nevertheless, it is still a Duran Duran classic. That fact alone deserved a respect, lol. xD

Meanwhile, if you have any songs or artists that you would like me to check out, I'm just a tweet away at twitter.com/chapree. :D
