[Swoosh] Quick Thoughts: The Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Football Boot - Speed Meets Control?

In Nike Football’s line of boots, the Mercurial series is generally designed for speed which is quite apparent through its general design philosophy that paid a lot of attention to lightweight structure and ground traction (remember the Nike SENSE dynamic extendable studs on Mercurial Superfly II?). That being said, it seems to me that Nike decides to pay some attention on a different element for the new Mercurial Vapor IX boots: control.

The reason why I said that is due to two features that Nike has included into the Mercurial Vapor IX: the new Speed Control texture on its upper as well as the boot’s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology.

[Reviews] Sound City – The Tale of A Legendary Recording Studio by Dave Grohl

Everyone knows Abbey Road, right? You know…that recording studio in UK that is greatly associated with The Beatles? The one with that zebra crossing? But how about Sound City? Have you heard of it?

I bet most of you never of the establishment. I’m guilty of that too – despite the fact I grew up to the sound of Nirvana’s Nevermind which was recorded in that very studio. Nirvana was not the only one though as there were tons of other great artists have recorded their materials there such as...

...Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot, Weezer, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queens of The Stone Age, Trent Reznor, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Rick Springfield, Barry Manilow, Dio...my god, the list juts goes on and on and on...

How I eventually found out about Sound City? Well, few months ago I heard about this documentary that Foo Fighters’ frontman (and also the drummer of Nirvana), Dave Grohl is working on that aims to tell the story of the legendary studio with the help of the artists, producers and staff that have worked in the studio as well as great music that came out from Sound City.

Marking the debut of Dave Grohl as a film director, Sound City premiered yesterday in theatres as well as in the form of digital download through its official website. Priced at around RM 41 (USD 12.99), I decided to purchase the documentary and here is what I thought of it...

[Running] – Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 Officially Dated, Registration Starts At The End of January

We are only 18 days into 2013 but looks like the marketing engine for the country’s premier running event - Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM) - has been turned on. Yesterday, SCKLM has officially announced that 30 June 2013 is the official date for this year’s event via its official Facebook page.

Furthermore, SCKLM’s official website has been taken over by a clock that is ticking down to the first day of SCKLM’s registration which (by my calculation) should take place sometime at the end of this month. Interesting...

The SCKLM is going to be the most important event for me this year as I’ve already aim to obtain a sub-60 minutes finish time in the event’s 10km category. As some of you might know, I will step up to half-marathon only and only if I manage to achieve that target exclusively at SCKLM. Yup, only there.

With around one month to go before I kicked off my 2013 season (cewah, sounds like pro jer) starting with the Safari Zoo Run 2013 12km in Singapore, the SCKLM’13 news makes me even more excited to train…starting this weekend. :D

[Running] Nike We Run 2012 Southeast Asia Adventures - Stop 1: Snapshots from Kuala Lumpur Pt.1

My Nike We Run 2012 adventures begun right here in Kuala Lumpur for a very simple reason: it is the first one in the series for Southeast Asia. I would say that the 2012 edition is the most unique We Run KL that I’ve participated since the first one in 2010 because it takes place in early evening as opposed to early morning as per previous editions.

It is also the biggest We Run KL so far with 15,000 participants ceiling limit - which were all gone within 5 hours and 7 minutes after Nike opened up the registration process. Out of those 15000, 12000 - still a massive number - of them actually made it to the starting line on 13 October 2012.

Aight, enough chit-chat, time for them photos! Click on the link below to start.

[Running] - From KL To SG To PH: My Adventures At Nike We Run 2012 Series Throughout Southeast Asia

Between 26 August and 15 December 2012, Nike held the We Run race series for the fourth year in a row and this year’s series takes place in 34 cities across the globe which involved close to 400,000 runners.

Out of those cities, three of them are in Southeast Asia.

The first is our own Kuala Lumpur, second being down south in Singapore, the third one is in Manila...

...and I ran in all three of them.

Here is the story of my experience at Nike We Run 2012 series throughout Southeast Asia.

Stay tuned for the first part of my Nike We Run 2012 Southeast Asia’s journey coming your way later today. First stop: 13 October 2012 - Kuala Lumpur.

[Swoosh] - No Cup Is Safe When World's No 1 Golfer Rory McIlroy Meets The Legendary Tiger Woods

If you haven't heard the news yet, the current world's no 1 golfer - Rory McIlroy - has signed up for Nike which put him in the same establishment as...yup, the legendary Tiger Woods. Obviously, this calls for a friendly showdown.

As usual, yet another excellent advert by the people at Wieden + Kennedy - the long time agency for Nike. It is always a pleasure to see their work whether it is for the Swoosh such as the hugely successful Write The Future campaign or for other companies such as the awesome Old Spice Guy advert.

[LULZ] - When Driverless Car Goes To Drive-In Fast Food Joints

So, what happened was that Rahat - a magician with awesome sense of humor - decided to embark in yet another journey to make the life of the people at drive-thru joints very colorful. Or damn right scary, if it is done late at night:

I personally would be like "WTF SON" and recite some holy verses in a snap if this happened to me.

On another hand, I wonder if anyone drive-thru personnel out there have encountered such experience before - whether just a prank or in extra-terrestrial way. Let me know if you had such tales, would love to hear your (lulz/spooky) stories.
